We just arrived from Halloween party. A lot of fun. Running, playing, some games, food and candies. There were pirate, witch, mermaid, fire fairy, batman, skeleton,fortune teller,big mama, ghost and many more. When the children enjoy, the parents are happy too.

Tulimme hetki sitten Halloween juhlista. Hauskaa oli. Paljon leikkiä,pelejä, yleistä tohinaa ja vähän riehuntaa. Grillausta ja karamelleja. Juhlissa mukana olivat tulikeiju, batman, noita, merirosvo, merenneito, luuranko,kummitus,big mama,ennustaja ja monia muita. Jälleen kerran tuli todettua kun lapsilla on hauskaa, myös vanhemmat viihtyvät.

Good night

After a busy day it is relaxing to sit down and read a bed-time story for the children. We have found a pile of hilarious books about Ella. The writer is Timo Parvela. My problem is that I can't read those books because I'm laughing almost all the time. My husband is far better reader but I can hear him laughing as well. And the children - they are laughing out loud. Ella is great ! Ella rules!

Kiireisen päivän jälkeen on iltasadun aika. Kesällä löysimme Timo Parvelan kirjoittaman hulppean hauskan Ella -kirjasarjan. Minä en niitä voi lapsille iltasaduksi lukea, nauran kuulemma liikaa. Mieheni on parempi lukija mutta välillä kuulen hänenkin naurahtelevan. Lapset taasen kihertävät ja nauravat mahat kippuralla. Ella on ihan ykkönen!

Something strange is in the air. I'm seeing only pink colour everywhere. I don't have a clue where this leads but it's interesting to wait and see.Have a good week!

Vaaleanpunaisia ajatuksia ilmassa.Väriä näkyy nyt olevan kaikkialla, vai etsinkö katseellani vain tätä väriä. Mielenkiintoista katsoa minne nämä väripolut johtavat... Mukavaa alkanutta viikkoa!

Experiment

I haven't been painting since I was about thirteen ( and that's more than twenty years ago - gosh, I'm old). Anyway, while the kids were happy painting their first own paintings a month ago, I decided to try again. Yes, the right word is try. Because. My very first painting and the only one is something I won't ever show to anyone. Well, it was nice to paint and mix the colours. And painting together with children was a great fun.

Aikaisemmat maalauskokemukseni ajoittuvat teini-ikään ja ne olivat todella kokeiluja. Ainoa ja ensimmäinen tauluni on piilotettuna jonnekin vanhempieni kotiin. Kuukausi sitten,kun lapset maalailivat ensimmäisiä taulujaan, ajattelin uskaltautua uudelleen siveltimen varteen. Hauskaa oli. Parasta oli maalailla yhdessä lasten kanssa.

Coffee morning

There is a coffee morning once a week for international spouses who do not work. It is run by spouses themselves, just an unofficial thing. It used to be official with spouses committee and all but nowadays we like it as it is. When I started my life as a spouse-stay-at -home-mom I wasn't any kind of coffee morning type but must admit now it's and it has been good to get out from the house once a week and meet other ladies.

Kerran viikossa on kansainvälinen kahviaamu. Epävirallinen juttu, jota pyörittävät ja jossa käyvät kotona olevat puolisot. Ennen toiminta oli vilkkaampaa ja järjestyneempää mutta nyt on ollut mukavan rentoa oloa. Aloitttaessani tämän kotiäiti-puoliso - roolituksen en kokenut itseäni kahviaamu-ihmiseksi. Mutta nyt elettyäni läpi leikkiryhmät ja kahvitteluaamut,täytyy tunnustaa, että on ollut hyvä aukaista kodin ovi ja lähteä sosiaalistumaan. Mökkihöperyys on ainakin toistaiseksi vältetty.

Cornishe

This is a beautiful sidewalk next to Mediterranean. One of the town's public beaches is here,just on the left. Many restaurants and cafes are facing to the sea on the right. And of course, a road where you can see more than one car every single night. Local people are hanging around here during the evenings.

This is what you see next morning. It is so much easier to leave everything behind than stand up, walk few steps and put the left-overs and rubbish to the rubbish bin. There is one boy who tries to clean the rocks but what can you do when there are hundreds of rocks and between them hundreds of holes. This makes me very sad.

Kaunis rantakatumme. Ravintoloita, kahviloita,ihmisiä,autoja ja mopoja. Jalkakäytävä on iltaisin vilkas kohtauspaikka. Seuraavana aamuna sen näkee, roskia joka puolella ja roskapöntöt kadun varressa useinmiten tyhjinä. Tämä jos mikä tekee surulliseksi.

Souq

on Saturday evening a few weeks ago ...by the eyes of seven-year-old girl. It is so amazing to see how children see their surroundings. I was here at the very same souq at the same time. And it is like would not been there.This is a new walk trip for me as well.

Sukilla eräänä lauantai-iltana muutama viikko sitten.Kuvat on ottanut seitsemän vuotias tyttäremme.On hämmentävää ja samalla hauskaa nähdä miten lapset näkevät ympäristönsä.

Olin samaan aikaan samassa paikassa ja silti on kuin en olisi siellä ollutkaan.On kuin olisi uudella kävelyllä.

Card factory, line 2

It's still warm.Sun is high above and it's shining bright. It's not helping when you try to get some kind of Christmas feeling. Quite opposite. So I needed to open another line in my small factory.
Maybe someone would like to get Christmas card decorated by shells ?

On hieman hankalaa saada joulumieltä.Aurinko paistaa korkealta taivaalta ja lämmittää vielä mukavasti. Jotta innostus säilyisi avasin toisen linjan pienessä korttitehtaassani. Voisikohan näitä simpukkakortteja käyttää joulukortteina ?

PS: Tuo aikaisempi kaulakoru ei jättänyt rauhaan. Oli pakko varmistaa itselle olinko tylysti plagioinut vai tuottanut omaa. Löysin pitkän etsinnän jälkeen vanhan askartelulehden, jossa oli samantyyppinen muttei samanlainen rannekoru. Jippii!

Card factory

It was not only the necklace. I got also an idea for my Christmas cards.Plain, simple and metal colours it will be this year. In the beginning it was just silver but then I found some golden stickers and use them as well. I am going to give these to the school and let them sell cards and raise money for the children. But must admit I'm a bit worried. Are cards too plain and won't sell ? I know people here love glitter and glitter more than anything else. Do I take a risk or do something else? Harmaa ei antanut ideaa vain kaulakoruun. Korttitehdas aukaisi linjansa ja tuloksena tuli yksinkertaisia, metallisia kuviota joulukortteihin.Nämä kortit annan vammaisten lasten koululle myytäväksi. Ainut huoleni on että saadaanko näitä myydyksi. Ihmiset täällä rakastavat kaikkea mikä kimaltaa.Mitä enempi sen parempi. Uskaltaako ottaa riski vai teenkö jotain muuta?

The necklace. The result about watching and getting ideas from pictures. I really would like to say it's my pattern but I can't do that. Because I don't know if it is.While watching the necklace I got a feeling I have seen something like this before. Somewhere.The problem is I don't know where and when or was it just similar one. But this one I made by myself.

Violet, kristallipalloa pitänee hangata hieman, ei tullut villatakkia.Hyvä idea kuitenkin mutta se jätettäneen taitavimmille. Lopputulos on kaulakoru ja/tai rannekoru. Luulen kuvien herättäneen alitajuntani, sillä kun koru oli valmis, tajusin sen muistuttavan jotain.Olen kaiketi nähnyt jotain tälläistä jossain joskus ( hyvin tarkkaan ilmoitettu lähde). En vain muista missä ja milloin. Vai muistuttaako tämä jotain. Jokun samantapaisen tiedän tehneeni aiemminkin. Jokatapauksessa värit valitsin ja tein tämän itse, omin käsin. Kukako saa? Joulupukki päättää...

Grey

Today I sorted out some of my photos. My head has been full of ideas but still I have been out of ideas. Don't know what happened while watching these photos but I got an ispiration for a present. Let's wait and see how that will turn out.

Tänään etsin, tallensin, poistin ja järjestin valokuvia tietokoneella. Pää on ollut täynnä ajatuksia, ideoita. On ollut unelmia, toiveita, haaveita lahjoista ja muista. Silti pää on ollut tyhjä kun jotain on halunnut tehdä.Nämä kaksi kuvaa antoivat idean lahjaan.Katsotaan millaiseksi se sitten muodostuu.

Morning walk

After dropping children to the school I went for a walk. The weather is great, no humidity and just around + 25. I thought it might be a bit heavy walk but luckily I was wrong. Not only walking fast but I did running as well. What a feeling! I think this was the best start for the day.

Saatettuani lapset kouluun aamulla menin aamukävelylle. Sää on vihdoin kohtuullinen, kosteusprosentit normaaleissa ja lämpötilakin lähempänä siedettävää. Ajattelin lenkistä tulevan tuskaisen mutta vielä mitä. Sen lisäksi että kävelyvauhti oli reipas, oli myös pakko juosta.Liekö syynä uusi musiikki puhelimessa, CCR ja ACDC, mutta kummasti jalat kantoivat eteenpäin ilman huolen häivää. Olo on nyt energiaa täynnä. Marathon, täältä tullaan!

Blanket

My granny squares. I started this blanket when we came back in September. 25 squares done so far. Still need to do around 110 squares. It will be ready during the year 2010. But I am so happy I can crochet.That was something I couldn't do four months ago.

Isoäidin neliöt. Aloitin tämän urakkani syyskuussa lomalta palattuamme. 25 neliötä tehty,tekemättä yli 110.Valmis siis joskus 2010. Onnellinen olen silti, neljä kuukautta sitten en osannut edes virkata.

Holiday

It is Eid-al-Fitr (the celebration that marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan). After sunset tonight fasting is over. Tomorrow early in the morning it is time to pray, go to mosque and cemetary. After that it's time to go and visit family and friends. It is time to celebrate.

For us this means no more broken sleep. During the last month we have forced to wake up at 3 am by drums. It is a tradition to wake up everyone just before sun is rising during Ramadan. Well, we didn't eat breakfast, just tried to go back to sleep. I can also go to cafeteria to have a cup of coffee during the day. But now we celebrate as well. Tomorrow is a public holiday (bank holiday). That means a long weekend together.

On Ramadan kuukauden päätösjuhla, al-Fitr. Auringon laskun jälken paastoaminen on loppu.Huomen aamulla on rukouksen aika.Perinteeseen kuuluu myös käynti moskeijassa ja hautausmaalla. Tämän jälkeen perheet ja ystävät kokoontuvat juhlimaan.

Meille tämä merkitsee paluuta normaaliin yöuneen, ei enää pakollisia aamuherätyksiä klo 3.00. Perinteeseen kuuluu herättää ihmiset aamupalalle ennen auringon nousua ja siinä sivussa heräävät kaikki rummunpäristykseen. Mutta on meilläkin syytä juhlia. Huomenna on virallinen vapaapäivä ja meille se tarkoittaa pitkää viikonloppua koko perheen kera.

Brown

The colour therapy continues. Still feeling sick, not able to go for walking or running. I'm tired and fed up. But the very best thing is there is only one way and it's upwards. Hopefully.

Väriterapia jatkuu. Flunssa sitkeästi kimpussa, ei mahdollisuutta lenkkeilyyn. Olo väsynyt, saamaton ja kyllästynyt. Ainut tie tästä olosta on, toivottavasti, ylöspäin.

Misty morning

Just sometimes everything looks so peaceful and calm. Mornings like this gives extra strenght and carries you through the day. This was just what I needed this morning.

Joskus kaikki näyttää rauhalliselta, unen omaiselta. Tälläiset aamut antavat lisäenergiaa koko päiväksi. Tämä oli se mitä juuri tänä aamuna tarvitsin.

Collections

I have been thinking how much I have changed during the years. When I was younger, I liked to use jewels more than nowadays. There was a time with the golden rings and a small lucky thing hanging in a necklace.There was Kalevala koru boom- the very big earings and heavy rings. Today less is more.

Picture above. These are my treasures. That necklace down is part of collection I got from my husband when our first one was born. I only use these when there is a party or some celebrations. In the middle is collection of Talon sydän. The necklace is my favorite. It means a lot to me. I got this collection ( also from my husband ) when our younger one was born. Both of these collections are from Kalevala koru (or Kaunis koru). At the highest up is my Mothers day gift from the last year. I got it from my children.

My rings. The golden one is the one and only in the whole wide world. So did say the shopkeeper from who my husband bought it. Don't know if it is true or not but I want to believe in that story. My wedding ring is the white-gold with a small diamond. I got it few years after our wedding day ( We didn't have time to find any when we got married). It is my own design. Nowadays you can see similar ones every where, though.

Positive thinking

We have a new visitor, Frau Flu. Just recovering from another flu and the new one hit. The locals say it means the season is going to change when flu arrives so we will see do we get any cooler weather. Anyway we have a new medicine - a positive thinking. This is not gonna last forever so just having good time by crafting nice things, reading nice stories, watching Home alone (my son's favorite),drinking a lot juice (usually only water) and eating some Fazer's chocolates..Dadaa! Today both of us, son and I are feeling much better.

Juuri kun toivuimme, iski uusi flussa. Paikalliset sanovat kun flunssa-aalto tulee,säät vaihtuu.Odotamme mielenkiinnolla mitä tuleman pitää. Keksimme uuden lääkkeen tähän tautiin- postiivivsen ajattelun. Paljon kivaa puuhastelua yhdessä,vähän ekstraa - elokuvia, mehua ja Fazerin suklaata.Tänään voimmekin jo paljon paremmin.

Pippi Longstocking skirt

My absolutely nicest skirt. Usually I am wearing - one colour only clothes- but for some reason this skirt just jump to my eyes and I didn't have any other choice than buy it. My children are calling this Pippi Longstocking skirt. Maybe mother is more like Pippi while wearing this.

Ehdottomasti mukavin hameeni.Yleensä vaatteeni ovat tyyliin vain yksi väri mutta tämä hame suorastaan pomppasi silmille eikä minulla ollut muuta mahdollisuutta kuin ostaa se mukaani.Lapset kutsuvat hametta Peppi Pitkätossu hameeksi. Ehkäpä äiti on enemmän Pepin oloinen tätä käyttäessään.

New plates

The colour of our plates and cups is white. It's always been. A plain white.But. When I saw these plates that changed and we have more colours than ever.I bought plates for children's use but must admit we adults are using new plates as well.

Astiastomme väritys on aina ollut valkoinen.Tai oli kunnes löysimme nämä lautaset.Nyt meillä onkin väriä enemmän kuin koskaan.Lautaset ostettiin lapsille mutta kyllä me aikuisetkin niitä käytämme.
